You've called, you've got a quote, and you've accepted the offer. Now a driver is coming to your address in Calgary to pick up the vehicle.
If this is your first time using a cash for cars service, you might be wondering what the process actually looks like. Here's a clear walkthrough of what to expect from the moment the driver arrives to the moment you close the door with cash in hand.
What Happens Before the Driver Arrives
After accepting your offer, you'll schedule a pickup window that works for you. Our drivers operate seven days a week throughout Calgary and surrounding communities. In most cases you can choose same-day or next-day pickup, and we'll give you a heads-up call or text when the driver is on their way.
You don't need to do anything to prepare the vehicle. Don't clean it, don't fix anything, don't jump start it. We handle all of that. Just make sure access to the vehicle is clear enough for a flatbed tow truck to get close.
If the vehicle is in a tight spot — a narrow driveway, an underground parkade, or hemmed in by other vehicles — let us know when you book and we'll make sure the driver comes prepared.
What the Driver Brings
Our drivers arrive with:
- Cash — the full agreed amount, ready to hand over
- A bill of sale — a proper document recording the transaction
- Tow equipment — flatbed and rigging to load vehicles that can't be driven or rolled
You don't need to arrange any of this. The driver comes fully equipped.
Documents You Should Have Ready
Having these ready speeds up the process:
- Government-issued photo ID — required for every transaction
- Vehicle title/registration if you have it — confirms ownership
If you've misplaced the title or there are complications with the ownership documents, call us before pickup day so we can advise. In many situations we can still proceed. Don't cancel the pickup — just have the conversation first. The Pickup Process Step by Step
1. Driver arrives and inspects the vehicle
The driver will do a quick visual inspection to confirm the vehicle matches what was described when you got your quote. This takes a few minutes. As long as the description you gave was accurate, the offer stands as quoted.
2. Paperwork is completed
You and the driver sign a bill of sale that records the vehicle details, agreed purchase price, your ID information, and the date of transaction. Keep your copy — it's useful for your records and for any insurance or registration cancellation you need to do afterward.
3. Cash changes hands
The driver pays you the agreed amount in cash before the vehicle is loaded. You get paid first.
4. Vehicle is loaded
The driver loads the vehicle using their flatbed or tow equipment. If the vehicle doesn't run, rolls freely, or has flat tires, the driver handles all of it. You don't need to help beyond making sure the area around the vehicle is clear.
5. Done
The whole process, from driver arriving to vehicle loaded and driver leaving, typically takes 20 to 30 minutes.
What to Do After the Sale
Once the vehicle is gone, there are a few things worth taking care of:
Cancel your insurance. Call your insurer and let them know the vehicle has been sold. Depending on your policy, you may be owed a refund on unused premium.
Cancel the registration. In Alberta, you can cancel a vehicle registration through a registry office or online. If the vehicle was licensed in your name, this prevents any liability if the plates were left on the vehicle.
Remove your plates. Alberta plates belong to the owner, not the vehicle. Remove them before pickup and keep or surrender them as needed. If you forget, call us and we can sort it out.
Retrieve personal items. Check the glove box, under seats, the trunk, and any storage compartments before the driver arrives. Once the vehicle leaves, retrieval is not practical.
What If the Driver Offers Less Than Quoted?
This should not happen. The offer we give over the phone is the amount we pay at the door. There are no deductions for towing, no admin fees, and no last-minute renegotiation.
The only exception is if the vehicle description you gave was significantly inaccurate — for example, if you described it as having a working engine but it turns out the engine block is cracked. In that case, the driver will discuss the discrepancy with you and you're always free to decline.
