How We Calculate Your Junk Car's Value

Every offer we make is built on three factors: the current scrap metal price per pound, the gross weight of your vehicle, and the salvage value of any usable parts.

Scrap steel prices fluctuate with global commodity markets. When you call us, we are pricing your vehicle at that day's rate — not a stale average. A full-size pickup truck or SUV will naturally yield a higher base offer than a compact car simply because it carries more steel.

On top of the metal value, we assess parts. Catalytic converters, copper wiring, aluminum components, engines with life remaining, and solid body panels all add to your payout. Standard scrap yards skip this step entirely — they weigh the car and multiply. We do not.

What you are quoted over the phone is what you receive in cash at the door. There are no fees subtracted at pickup and no surprise deductions.

What Condition Does Your Junk Car Need to Be In?

There is no condition floor. We buy vehicles across the entire spectrum and each one still has real value.

Running and driveable vehicles typically attract the strongest offers because usable parts are intact and the vehicle may qualify for resale components. But this category represents a minority of what we buy.

Non-running vehicles — blown engine, seized transmission, dead battery, flat tires — are the core of our business. The scrap metal and parts value is still fully there. We send a flatbed and tow it away at no cost to you.

Accident-damaged, fire-damaged, and flood-damaged vehicles are bought regularly. Even a total write-off has hundreds of kilograms of steel, plus copper, aluminum, and often a catalytic converter still worth significant money.

Vehicles that have been sitting unmoved for years — seized in place, overgrown, deflated into the ground — are not a problem. We have the equipment and we have seen it before.

Why We Pay More Than Scrap Yards

A standard scrap yard quotes by weight and current steel price, then subtracts a tow fee if they have to pick it up. That tow fee alone can eat $100–$200 of your payout before you see a dollar.

We price the full vehicle — steel, aluminum, copper, catalytic converter, and any salvageable mechanical components — and our driver comes to you at no charge. The towing is included in the deal, not deducted from it.

We are also buying directly, not reselling through a broker. That means no middleman margin removed from your offer. The quote reflects what the vehicle is worth to us, and that is what you get.

Junk Car Buyers vs. Private Sale: Which Pays More?

For a non-running or heavily damaged vehicle, the private market is nearly non-existent. A private buyer wants a project car they can fix — they are not paying scrap metal value. You would likely spend weeks fielding low offers of $200–$400 from buyers who then want you to deliver it.

For a running vehicle, private sale can yield more if you have time. But if the car is aging, high-mileage, or has known issues, the private pool shrinks fast and negotiating down from your asking price is almost guaranteed.

Selling to us makes the most sense when speed, certainty, and convenience matter. You call us, we quote, we pick up, you have cash. No listings, no strangers, no test drives, no waiting.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about our service.

We base every offer on three things: the current scrap steel price per pound, the approximate weight of your vehicle, and the salvage value of any usable parts including catalytic converters, aluminum, copper, and intact mechanical components. Unlike scrap yards that only weigh the steel, we factor in parts — which is why our offers are typically higher.

Heavier vehicles yield more because there is more steel. Intact catalytic converters add significant value. Running engines and solid body panels increase the parts assessment. Vehicles that have been completely stripped, or that are missing the catalytic converter, will come in lower. Condition of the body and interior has minimal effect — we are pricing the metal and mechanical components, not the appearance.

In most cases yes, for two reasons. First, we assess parts value in addition to steel weight — scrap yards rarely do. Second, our towing is fully included in the deal. A scrap yard that quotes you $300 and then charges $150 to tow it is effectively paying you $150. Our quote is your take-home amount, no deductions.

Not necessarily. Non-running vehicles still carry full scrap metal value and often have salvageable parts. The offer reduction for a non-runner is typically small. The bigger factors are vehicle size, metal weight, and whether key high-value components like the catalytic converter are still present.

We will still buy it. Missing parts reduce the offer somewhat, but the base scrap metal value remains. Let us know what is missing when you call and we will give you an accurate quote upfront.

We do not advertise a minimum because every vehicle is different. Small compact cars will yield less than full-size trucks simply due to weight. Call us with the year, make, model, and a brief description and we will give you a real number in minutes.

Same-day pickup is available in most cases. If you call before noon we can often arrange pickup that afternoon. Our drivers are on the road 7 days a week throughout Calgary and cash is paid at the time of pickup.
